Defined Contribution Retirement Plan

The defined contribution retirement plan is a common pension option by employers. With this plan, contributions both from employer and employee are placed into accounts individually per member. At this time, investments are made using the contributions, and positive returns are placed back towards their account. Over the years, the idea is that investments should amass considerable profits to be given back at retirement. When the employee does reach retirement, their account will be liquidated either as annuity, which sets up an income, or might be paid out in other ways to the employee. In recent years, the defined contribution plan has witnessed a rise in popularity by employers across the globe, including the United States. Unlike a defined benefit plan, the defined contribution plan doesn't pose a risk to the employers. Instead, individual employees take on risks of gains and losses in their own accounts, making this type of plan much better for the employer.
