Disaster Management

Disaster management is a form of preventative measure used in several situations and operated in various ways to, in advance, manage a disaster. The first and most necessary element of disaster management involves preparedness - due to the critical and unexpected nature of a disaster, it is improbable that effective disaster management can occur at the time of the disaster. Instead, governments and individuals prepare for disaster beforehand. At a government level, this includes programs such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a government agency that plans for and administers help in disasters. Individuals can also manage disasters themselves by being prepared, whether that be financial or non-financial concerns, such as evacuation or residency in the event of a disaster.
