equity securities

Equity securities are a kind of security in which the investor is given ownership into a company in exchange for their purchase. The most common forms of an equity security is stock, either common or preferred, or capital. To purchase an equity security, the buyer will invest via a brokerage firm, online, or through the company. In this agreement, the company becomes the recipient to of the buyer's funds while the buyer is granted partial ownership. Along with this ownership, although the buyer cannot make any decisions, they do have the right to sell their section for profits. Based on the market in which the security operates, the equity security will fluctuate in value. Also involved in this fluctuation is the business's performance, which influences the value of the stock as it changes.
