Eye Insurance

Many employers may provide insurance of this type alongside standard medical insurance, but employees should know that eye insurance is usually separate from their medical insurance. Although medical insurance generally protects eye problems to some extent, eye insurance allows for the regular treatment that most individuals require, a coverage which many individuals will require at some point in time. For example, an eye injury caused by an accident might be covered, but the medical insurance may not be able to grant coverage on a routine eye check. In addition to coverage on eye appointments and such, eye insurance also may allow for the insured to receive needed eye equipment, such as glasses, at a lower cost. Eye insurance is generally obtained through a PPO or HMO, and will require that a premium be paid in exchange for coverage.
