Futures Markets

The term futures market represents a trading market in the investment world. In this particular market, the participants are able to buy and sell commodities. They are also able to buy and sell based on the future delivery contracts. This is a unique market different from a stock market and it often carries a significantly higher amount of risk than other markets. In a futures market, the market provides a medium for the activities of hedging and speculation, which are complementary activities. This helps to dampen the often times wild fluctuations in the value or the prices that are caused by what are called gluts and shortages within the marketplace. A futures market is often in use by investors who are experienced in trading in futures and options.
