Gold mutual funds are a type of mutual fund in which the investments are specifically used to purchase gold or are invested in golf producing or managing companies. Mutual funds are a collection of funds made up of deposits from a group of shareholders. In this type of fund, the entire group purchases investments so that a larger amount may be purchased than what one person could purchase. The fund often has a designation, such as being a golf mutual fund account. This designation directs the investors managing the account to the types of investments to purchase from specialized companies or sectors. For example, in a golf mutual fund, the investors expect their funds to be used to purchase gold-based investments.
