Hurricane Preparedness

Hurricane preparedness is the practice of achieving the correct and appropriate guidelines in preparation for a hurricane. As set out by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the actions taken for hurricane preparedness begin on an individual level. Well in advance of a hurricane, citizens should have taken precautionary measures to protect the structure of their home, such as trimming trees and clearing gutters. During the hurricane, orders dispatched by authorities should be taken seriously, whether you need to head to a safe house or evacuate the area completely. When a hurricane has ended, individuals must consider the potential damages to their property and the resources offered by various agencies. FEMA, being the government organization that governs emergency management, achieves hurricane preparedness from a national perspective by informing residents, organizing funds, and establishing programs for victims after a hurricane.
