Income Producing Investments

Investment companies provide the opportunity for individuals to invest their wealth in hopes of profiting. There are many income-producing investments and investors should investigate which type of investment fits their personal needs and expectations. One common type of investment is the unregistered security. Unregistered securities include the familiar stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. A less traditional unregistered security is a viatical. To invest in a viatical, an investor purchases life insurance benefits of a terminally ill person. When the terminally ill person passes away, the viatical investor receives the life insurance policy amount. Viaticals can be very risky investments due to the uncertainty surrounding the lifespan of terminally ill people.

Fast Facts

  • Viaticals are often part of the plots of scam artists. Individuals seeking to invest in a viatical should thoroughly investigate the seller and make sure that the security has been registered with the government before purchasing.
