Securities

Securities are a type of investment instrument. This is not a type of fixed annuity or insurance policy. Rather, a corporation, another organization or the government issues it. The goal of the security is to provide evidence of a debt or equity in that organization. The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 defines what the security is legally, as being any type of "note, stock, treasury stock, bond, debenture, certificate of interest or participation in any profit sharing agreement or in any oil, gas or other mineral royalty or leaseļ¾…" It continues to include numerous other types of investments. Securities are the most common form of investment in the stock markets or financial markets. They allow an individual to purchase at a low price and then sell at a higher price, usually over a longer period.
